WDR3 Tonart
Today we were in Cologne—more precisely, we were guests at the WDR3 studio for the programme Tonart. We not only performed parts of our favourite repertoire, but also spoke with host Philipp Quiring about the essential things in life: red wine and the German railway.

Beethoven debut at Mercatorhalle & Philharmonie Essen
We are looking forward with great anticipation to two special concerts in early 2026, in which we will perform Ludwig van Beethoven’s Triple Concerto for the first time. On 25 January 2026 we will make our debut with this work at the Mercatorhalle Duisburg, followed by another concert on 1 February 2026 at the Philharmonie Essen—both together with the University Orchestra Essen-Duisburg under the direction of Oliver Leo Schmidt.
For us it is a special occasion to present this monumental work—combining chamber-music refinement with orchestral grandeur—for the first time in major halls of our study region. In addition to Beethoven, both programmes will include works by Claude Debussy and Sergei Rachmaninoff—an exciting and colourful combination we are very much looking forward to.
Beginning of our studies at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in Madrid
We are delighted to share that we will be further intensifying our studies at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía. This step means a great deal to us: it opens up new artistic perspectives and gives us the opportunity to work regularly in one of Europe’s most inspiring musical cities.
We are especially grateful for the chance to study with the quartet legend Günter Pichler—his musical experience and precise chamber-music tradition are an enormous enrichment for us.
We are very much looking forward to the time ahead in Madrid—to the city, the atmosphere, and the intensive artistic impulses that await us there.
Walbusch Prize 2025
As part of the Jeunesses Musicales International Chamber Music Campus, which celebrated its 70th anniversary this year, we were awarded the Walbusch Prize 2025. The award includes a concert at the Gezeitenkonzerte in 2026—an absolute highlight we are already very excited about.
The campus was an especially intense and formative week for us. Artistic impulses from Heime Müller, Günter Pichler, Dirk Mommertz and the Vogler Quartet enriched our playing in many ways and opened up new perspectives on sound, ensemble playing and interpretation.
We are very grateful for this award—and we are looking ahead with great anticipation to our concert in East Frisia next year.
ProQuartet Residency 2025–2027
We are very happy to be included as an ensemble in the ProQuartet – Centre Européen de Musique de Chambre residency from 2025 to 2027. ProQuartet is one of the most important European institutions supporting chamber music, accompanying ensembles through intensive coaching, international networking opportunities, professional concert promotion and projects for musical and artistic development.
For us, this two-year residency is a great opportunity: we will receive valuable impulses from experienced artistic personalities, develop new programmes and further refine our artistic profile with ProQuartet’s support. We are very much looking forward to this collaboration and the many new perspectives it will open up.
Folkwang Prize 2025
We are delighted to have been awarded the Folkwang Prize 2025 in the category of music. The prize honours our work in the Master’s programme for chamber music at the Folkwang Universität der Künste, where we are taught by Thomas Hoppe.
Our studies at Folkwang have opened up new artistic possibilities and horizons: in an inspiring environment we were able to broaden our perspectives, make valuable connections, and—since none of the three of us comes from North Rhine-Westphalia—discover a new region musically and culturally. The teaching of Thomas Hoppe, whom we value greatly as a teacher and mentor, is an enormous enrichment for us.
We are especially looking forward to continuing our studies at the Folkwang Universität der Künste from October 2025 in the Konzertexamen programme and deepening our musical work there.
Davidoff Trio wins the Parkhouse Award 2025
We are overjoyed and still completely overwhelmed to have won the Parkhouse Award 2025. This success means an incredible amount to us—and we would like to thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts who has accompanied and supported us in recent weeks and months, above all our professor, friend and mentor Thomas Hoppe.
The award includes a recital at the legendary Wigmore Hall, a live radio appearance on BBC Radio 3, invitations to several British chamber music festivals, as well as additional two-year support and artistic mentoring.
We are very happy about the jury’s decision—Robert Cohen, Nicholas Daniel, Priya Mitchell, Martin Outram, Stephen Threlfall, Peter Thresh and chairman Chris de Souza.
We can hardly believe our luck—and we are hugely excited about everything the next two years will bring.
3rd Prize | 10th International Joseph Joachim Chamber Music Competition Weimar
We return with great gratitude from the International Joseph Joachim Chamber Music Competition Weimar: among 23 participating ensembles we were able to assert ourselves successfully, and our performance was honoured by the jury—Anne-Kathrin Lindig, Annette von Hehn, Per Lundberg, Johannes Meissl, Angelika Merkle, Hartmut Rohde, Martin Rummel and Naoko Shimizu—with third prize and prize money of €2,500.

Residency scholarship from the Stahlberg Foundation
We are delighted to have been awarded the Stahlberg Foundation residency scholarship, which enables a one-week working stay at Kultur Gut Hasselburg. In the picturesque and quiet surroundings of the historic estate, we can focus intensively on new programmes, fresh repertoire, and everything that 2025 has in store for us.
The residency offers valuable space for concentrated work, musical development and creative planning—a gift we are truly grateful for.
Konzerte im Nirgendwo
We are starting 2025 with a special project close to our hearts: our first own concert series, »Konzerte im Nirgendwo«.
Konzerte im Nirgendwo
With the aim of making classical music accessible to a broader audience through innovative concert formats and unusual venues, we are launching a new interdisciplinary series in January 2025 at the Mainz bar Nirgendwo. The project is supported by the #MusikerZukunft scholarship of the Deutsche Orchesterstiftung, the Strecker Foundation, the Peter-Cornelius Conservatory Mainz and the City of Mainz. The series combines classical chamber music with jazz, poetry and thematic focuses that address current social questions.
Each of the three evenings is dedicated to its own theme and brings together music and texts from several centuries—in changing ensembles, in an open atmosphere, followed by a chance for audience and artists to exchange ideas.
3rd Prize | Gianni Bergamo Award Lugano
We look back with gratitude on our participation in the Gianni Bergamo Classic Music Award, where we were honoured with third prize.
3rd Prize | Gianni Bergamo Award Lugano
For us, this competition was an important moment—not only as an artistic recognition, but also as an opportunity to measure ourselves against many excellent young ensembles in Lugano and continue to grow.
Participating gave us the chance to present our repertoire in a focused, professional setting and to take away valuable musical impulses from jury feedback and encounters with other musicians. The third prize was a wonderful confirmation of our work together and a motivation to continue our path as a trio with even more energy.
Scholarship from the Werner Richard–Dr. Carl Dörken Foundation
We are very happy to have been selected as scholarship holders of the Werner Richard–Dr. Carl Dörken Foundation for the upcoming 2024/25 season!

Festival Summer 2024

In August we will travel to Lübeck to take part in the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival masterclasses, spending an intensive week of lessons with the legendary violinist and teacher Günter Pichler. At the final concert in the Ratekau fieldstone church we will perform Dmitri Shostakovich’s First Piano Trio.
On 29 August we will also present a concert as part of Saarbrücker Sommermusik, featuring Johannes Brahms’ Piano Trio in B major as well as Pulsar – Symphony for Piano Trio by Daniel Schnyder.
To close the summer, we will attend the International Summer Academy for Chamber Music Frenswegen, where we are looking forward to new impulses from Konstantin Heidrich, Angelika Merkle and chamber music mentor Eberhard Feltz.
Beginning our studies at the Folkwang Universität der Künste in Essen
From the winter semester 2023/24, we will continue our Master’s studies in Piano Chamber Music with Prof. Thomas Hoppe (ATOS Trio) at the Folkwang Universität der Künste.
We are very much looking forward to being taught by the pianist of one of Europe’s most renowned piano trios, and we are excited about the musical impulses awaiting us at Folkwang and in the city of Essen.

Invitation to the 71st International ARD Music Competition
We are very happy to have been invited to the ARD Music Competition in Munich next autumn as one of only 19 piano trios. As preparation for this important competition, we will be presenting an extensive trio marathon on 27 August in the Red Hall of the Mainz University of Music.
